| es_ES |
dc.description.abstract | The objective of the research was to determine if the intake of vitamin D is related to the risk of developing T2DM in the teaching staff of Unidad Educativa Monseñor Maximiliano Spiller of Tena canton, with a cross-sectional study; through a survey of 35 teachers, evaluated anthropometrically (BMI). Biochemical data were taken (glucose, lipid profile, HOMA-IR and TG/HDL), health conditions, (blood pressure, personal and family pathological background), lifestyle (type of physical activity with the IPAQ questionnaire, consumption of tobacco and alcohol) and the intake of vitamin D with the 24-hour reminder; To relate this variable to the risk of developing T2DM, the HOMAIR index, marker of insulin resistance was used; the data was reported in the JMP 5.1 software. The variables were analyzed by sex and total population; the majority are women (60%); average age 44.28 years; of the body mass index (BMI) 27.62 kg/m2; of preprandial glycemia 88.36 mg/dl; of HOMA-IR 1.98, total cholesterol 189.41 mg/dl, of triglycerides 126.34 mg/dl, of HDL cholesterol 59.70 mg/dl; of LDL cholesterol 104.48 mg/dl; 11 teachers (31.4%) are sedentary; 5.7% have hypertension; 14.3% consume alcohol and 8.6% are smokers; 7 teachers (3 wome and 4 men) have insulin resistance and 28 teachers have an insufficient intake of vitamin D. No statistically significant differences were found between the intake of vitamin D and the variables studied; but a higher mean BMI, preprandial glycemia, HOMA-IR and TG/HDL index and sedentary lifestyle in people with low vitamin D consumption. In conclusion, vitamin D intake is not related to the risk of T2DM It is recommended to extend research with a greater number of people and implement a nutritional food education program for the prevention and intervention of DMT2. | es_ES |
