Implement a physical activity strategy for the control of arterial hypertension in adults. The type of study was prospective, longitudinal with a quasi-experimental design; The population universe was 53 patients with arterial hypertension, Santo Domingo neighborhood, Puyo city, December 2018 to May 2019. The THPC survey was applied as an investigative instrument to assess the degree of knowledge about physical activity in patients with arterial hypertension ". Knowledge level was evaluated according to the score obtained: high of 8-10 points, medium: 5-7 points and low of 4-0 points. Data tabulation was performed with SPSS version 24.0; Chi-square was used for the relationship between the variables, with a significance level of p <0.05; the most prevalent age group was 60 to 69 years 41.51%; the female sex prevailed with 62.26%; overweight 35.85% and obesity type 135.85%; housewives 43.40%. In the pre-intervention 52.83% did not perform physical activity, in the post-intervention 35.85% of hypertensive patients had a frequency of physical activity from 3 to 5 days a week and 32.08% performed physical activity every day (p: 0.005); before the intervention the average degree of knowledge with 52.83% prepondered and after the intervention the high degree of knowledge with 56.60%; a statistically significant relationship was found between the degree of average knowledge about physical activity in both the mestizo ethnic group (p: 0.015) and overweight and type I obesity (p: 0.003). After applying the strategy, there was a decrease in the values of systolic, diastolic and mean blood pressure (p: 0.002). The study concluded that physical activity as a strategy does help control hypertension. It is recommended that the study be carried out in a broader time, with the verification of other variables.es_ES
