Proyecto para la creación del centro de acopio comunitario de maíz, en la parroquia Puela, cantón Penipe provincia de Chimborazo

Abstract

The purpose of this research project was to carry out a feasibility study for the creation of a community corn collection center in the Puela parish located in the Penipe canton, province of Chimborazo, to determine whether the project is feasible and thus improve the economic situation of farmers from the locality. The research was conducted through surveys aimed at farmers to determine the amount of production, the place where they sell the crop and if they are willing to participate in the project; furthermore, it was applied an interview to the president of the parish government of Puela and to the manager of the wholesale-market of the city of Riobamba to obtain information about the commercialization of corn in this place. The market study allowed to know that the producers agree with the creation of the collection center to deliver their products quickly and safely. In the technical study, the ideal place to start the project was established and also it was identified that, agriculture is the main source of income in the parish. In the economic and financial study, it was determined that the project is feasible with a NPV of $ 182,157.15, IRR of 5.94%, a Payback period (PP) of 21 months and 28 days, and the benefit cost of $ 3.82. The organizational study presents the structure and objectives of the collection center. It is recommended to carry out this project to help the socio-economic development of the parish.
