Análisis del impacto de la altitud sobre las emisiones contaminantes y el consumo de combustible en un vehículo con inyección electrónica

Abstract

This work aimed to analyze the variation of the altitude that exists in the Ecuadorian relief. Height was the principal variable of interest when exploring its different routes. That is why a vehicle was made where several tests were carried out on board. The data gathering process was carried out based on a sampling of gaseous pollutants through a gas analyzer and engine operating parameters through an OBD II device. The tests were 30 minutes long, the obtained data were saved on a software belonging to the manufacturer of the emission device. In the same way, a mobile application saved the data of the OBD II device. d with the filtering and information processing using Excel and Minitab programs. also, the need to record the gear switching. After obtaining the data we proceeded with the filtering and information processing using Excel and Minitab programs. The correlation of Pearson was used to perform statistical analysis. It was found that altitude is not a determining factor in the analysis of fuel consumption. Nevertheless, with the emissions of CO, it was evidenced that height influences the emission of this gas. But it was not shown a greater influence from height for HC and NOx. It is concluded that altitude is one of the many factors that intervene in the engine operation, but, when it was analyzed in isolation, it does not become a factor influencing fuel consumption or emissions pollutants. It is advisable to analyze several factors that intervene in the vehicle performance, example, ambient temperature, atmospheric pressure, fuel type, fuel condition motor, etc., to be able to carry out a more in-depth analysis for this type of study.
