Análisis de la situación actual de los atractivos y planta turística de la zona urbana del cantón Mejía para la práctica del turismo accesible.

Abstract

The objective of this study was to analyze the current situation of the attractions and tourist facilities in the urban area of Mejía for an accessible tourism. The research was descriptive-analytical, in the characterization of the accessibility conditions, the updated inventory of tourist attractions and the tourist cadastre of the canton were reviewed to identify the 5 attractions, 7 lodging establishments and 31 food and beverage establishments; then the accessibility conditions for people with physical, visual, hearing and intellectual disabilities were verified by means of the accessibility cards: accessibility of the methodology of hierarchizing and generation of tourist spaces, Ecuadorian technical standard of accessibility to the physical environment and accessibility to the physical environment in establishments; in the formulation of recommendations, successful cases in terms of accessible and inclusive tourism were reviewed taking into account accessibility parameters in tourist attractions and good practices in the value chain; subsequently, suggestions accompanied by illustrations and/or images were indicated for the practice of accessible tourism that are coupled to the reality of the canton. Consequently, it was determined that the attractions and establishments are not completely accessible due to the existence of deficiencies in: infrastructure, bathrooms, rooms, common areas and availability of aids; therefore, alternatives were suggested based on the regulations that are easy to adapt, without significant changes and of low economic cost. Finally, the evaluation processes of accessibility conditions, the adaptation of spaces and the elimination of physical or social barriers was recommended.
