Plan de salvaguardia del patrimonio cultural inmaterial de la parroquia Tixán, cantón Alausí, provincia de Chimborazo.

Abstract

This research aimed to design a safeguarding plan for the Intangible Cultural Heritage in Tixán village, Alausí canton, Chimborazo province. In addition, the registration of the cultural events from the town was worked in three phases: a meeting established with the key stakeholders to make them aware of the guidelines of the project to be carried out and to obtain free, prior, and informed consent; a collection of information through primary and secondary sources; analysis and systematization of the cultural events through the use of the registration form of them proposed by the National Institute of Cultural Heritage, in the six areas that are traditions and oral expressions; ritual social uses and festive acts; knowledge and uses related to nature; creative manifestations; traditional craft techniques; food and gastronomic heritage, obtaining a total of twenty-seven manifestations. On the other hand, for the evaluation of these manifestations, a matrix was used with aspects such as transmission, memory, and identity, qualifying them as highly vulnerable events, and current manifestations. Subsequently, a SWOT matrix was used to identify the critical nodes and key success factors, strategic objectives, and strategies, to establish five programs and six projects, each one with its justification and activities to be carried out to contribute to the effective safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage. To sum up, the Tixán village has great cultural wealth, so the design of the plan will revitalize, transmit, disseminate, promote, encourage and protect through three phases: identification, diagnosis, and definition of actions for the safeguarding of the ICH, which will strengthen the cultural identity of the population, generating awareness to preserve the customs and traditions that will last from generation to generation.
