Plan de acción para el fortalecimiento de turismo de la parroquia Pungalá, cantón Riobamba, provincia de Chimborazo.

Abstract

This project aimed to develop the strengthening of the tourism plan in Pungalá village, Riobamba canton, Chimborazo province, for which the current baseline was determined in Pungalá village, also the inventory of existing tourist attractions in the study area was established, the philosophical and strategic framework for the area was determined, and programs and projects for the plan were structured. It began with the current situation of the village in the physical, spatial, socio-cultural, ecological, territorial, economic, productive, and political-administrative spheres, then fieldwork was carried out for the inventory of natural and cultural attractions in Pungalá village, obtaining 13 hierarchical attractions, of which 5 are natural and 8 are cultural. In addition, the tourism product line was defined according to its potentialities, finding adventure, nature, cultural and experiential tourism, then based on the collection of information through SWOT (strengths-opportunities-weaknesses-threats) and CPES (cause-problem-effect-solution) matrices, the formulation of the philosophical approach was proposed: mission, vision, principles, and values, based on the methodology of SENPLADES(national secretary of planning and development), 2016 and finally structured programs and projects that allow the feasibility of the action plan for strengthening tourism in Pungalá with 4 programs and 18 projects with an approximate investment of 247. 247,200.00 USD. To sum up, the Pungalá village has optimal and favorable conditions for the implementation of tourism with responsible use of existing resources under the axes of sustainability and economic development for the community and it is recommended the implementation of this plan, which will position the village in the market.
