Proyecto de investigación, perfil clínico epidemiológico de pacientes obstétricas ingresadas en cuidados intensivos, Hospital Provincial General Docente Riobamba, junio 2014 – junio 2019

Abstract

The objective of this degree work was to conduct an epidemiological clinical study with the collection of information through the review of medical records of obstetric patients who entered the intensive care unit due to this transition unit is very important to reduce the prevalence of maternal deaths. A descriptive, retrospective and prevalence research was carried out to observe the epidemiological clinical profile of obstetric patients who enter the intensive care unit at the Provincial General Teaching hospital Riobamba in the period June 2014 - June 2019, with a total of 135 obstetric patients studied. It was concluded with the present research that the prevalence of admission to the intensive care unit of pregnant patients in the studied population is 0.30%, being the prevailing maternal age of 15-19 years, most of them come from Riobamba canton, mestizo ethnic, stay in ICU for 1-3 days. The most frequent cause of admission was hypertensive disorders with a predominance of Preeclampsia, it was also observed that there is a great relationship between the modified shock index and patients with obstetric hemorrhage, as well as the great relationship between the qSOFA scale with the patients with suspected sepsis. It is recommended that similar studies are conducted in other second level hospitals in the same area to observe the epidemiological behavior of obstetric patients.
