Determinación del factor de vehículo liviano equivalente para el sistema vial urbano en la ciudad de Pelileo - Ecuador periodo 2022.

Abstract

The main objective of this research project was to determine the passenger car equivalent factor for the urban road system in the city of Pelileo. In order to know the current situation and collect relevant data, it was necessary to apply the analytical and deductive method; the observation technique was considered and research instruments were used such as: observation sheets regarding road infrastructure and signaling, vehicle gauging by type of vehicle and technological equipment (Nikon D 3500 camera); with the collection of videos it was possible to determine clearly and precisely the exact frame of the passage of the front and rear bumper of the vehicles moving through the sites selected for the gauging; after that, these data were analyzed statistically and with the Adobe Premiere program to measure and determine the exact transit times. With the analysis it is determined that the intersections that comply with the technical and regulatory parameters are: Av. Antonio Clavijo and Quis Quis, Av. Confraternidad and Pitahayas, Av. Confraternidad and Av. Pedro Jorge Chacón, after which the Headway time is determined and the passenger car equivalent factor equation is applied for each type of vehicle, obtaining the following results: Passenger car equivalent factor of 1.00 for light vehicles, 1.91 for buses, 1.09 for trucks, 0.53 for motorcycles and 0.24 for bicycles. Finally, it is concluded that it is important to have this factor for transportation engineering calculations and it is recommended to make use of the values determined for future studies in the city of Pelileo.
