A Pharmacovigilance System was implemented in patients hospitalized at the Pelileo Basic Hospital of the Province of Tungurahua during the May-July period of 2014, in order to detect, evaluate, report and, above all, prevent Adverse Drug Reactions, In order to improve the control of medical prescriptions and optimize human and economic resources. The study was carried out applying the National System of Intensive Pharmacovigilance applying the Inductive-Deductive methods, through the review of the patients' clinical histories, with interviews in an individualized way and having a registry of the treatments and the presence of ADRs through designed support files For each inpatient in the areas of Internal Medicine, Gynecology - Obstetrics and Pediatrics of the Basic Hospital of Pelileo during the period of investigation. As a result, 52 cases correspond to 33.6% of patients with ADR of the 155 treated in the health unit. And among the drugs classified by therapeutic groups the one with the highest incidence of ADR is Antimicrobials with 45.45%, followed by antacids with 12.73%, among others. It is concluded that the implementation of the Pharmacovigilance System (SNFV) has contributed in a valuable way in the improvement of the health of the population. In order to overcome this health problem, the Unitary Dose System should be implemented in the Hospital, and above all the Pharmaceutical Biochemist, to be part of this project at the national and world level, being recognized for its contribution to research and prevention of the health of the community.es_ES
