This research was aimed in order to evaluate the anti-inflammatory activity and cytotoxicity in viro both the hydro-alcoholic extract, as a (presumably quercetin-3-O-methyl ether) isolated compound both obtained from the aerial portion of Bidens andicola. The quality of both the raw drug as the alcoholic extract was found. Phytochemical screening was performed in order to identify the most abundant metabolites. By thin layer chromatography, a chromatographic profile of the hydro-alcoholic extract unhydrolyzed and hydrolyzed was obtained. The compound isolated was identified from the hydrolysate extract by cormatographics and spectrophotometric techniques. Flavones and phenolic compounds present were determined in the hydroalcoholic extract quantitativement. A tetrazolium salt (WST-1) was used, the results expressed as percent inhibition and cellular antiinflammatory respectively viability to assess the anti-inflammatory activity and in viro cytotoxicity. The presence of phenolic compounds, flavonoids, coumarins, catechins, saponins and fatty compounds, by screening was tested fitoquic. In the thin layer chromatography of the hydroalcoholic extract flavonoid glycoside type they were identified, quercetin 3-O-glycoside, quercetin 3-O-rhamnoside, isoquercetin, isoquercitrin and chlorogenic acid. Hydrolyzed extract in the presence of quercetin was identified. The isolated compund was identified as quercetin allegedly 3-O-methyl ether. The total phenolic content of the extract was hidroalcoholic 12,058 ± 0.274%, while the total flavonoids was 9,987 ± 0,12%. The hydroalcoholic extract has anti-inflammatory greater percentage of inhibition relative to aisled compound. The isolated compound has lower cytotoxicity than the extract. It is recommended to carry into the structural elucidation of compounds from Bidens andicola.es_ES
