Implementación de las buenas prácticas de almacenamiento y distribución de medicamentos en la Bodega General del Hospital Provincial General Docente de Riobamba.

Abstract

The research Implementing the Good Practices of Storage and Distribution of medicines in the general warehouse of the Hospital Provincial General Docente de Riobamba, conducted an initial evaluation, by direct observation, interviews, surveys, checklists and inventory in order to execute an intervention that allow the implementation of the normative. It was known that there is lack of Standard Operating Procedures to establish functions and responsibilities of the personnel, as well as lack of training on the current regulations. All of the above stated allowed an intervention to achieve minimum conditions for the implementation of an adequate storage and distribution of medicines, where zones were identified, classification of medicines, implementation of a traffic light system to control expiration dates, and to elaborate Standard Operatives Procedures and Training. The initial conditions allowed to establish percentages regarding general compliance of the norm, obtaining 24.24% of total compliance, 27.28% partial and 48.48% almost half of noncompliance, represented by: lack of identification and delineation

of areas, incorrect distances

between storage pallets , incorrect medication reception, random storage and distribution without

the application of the First Expiry First Out (FEFO) system. Similarly, during the intervention,

checklists of

the conditions were regularly applied to verify the gradual progress. Finally, the conclusion is that the implementation of BPAD was opportune and favorable for the warehouse, since according to a satisfaction survey applied to the personnel 87% of the staff considered that the activities carried out contributed to improve the storage and distribution of medicines, in addition the last checklist evidenced that there is total compliance in most of the parameters established in the current normative. It is recommended to the staff of Hospital Provincial General Docente de Riobamba to continue the work of implementing the Good Practices of Storage and Distribution of medicines.
