The anti-inflammatory activity of the ethanol extract of Campyloneurum amphosenon was determined at three dose levels. The rhizomes were the starting material on which quality control was carried out, followed by preparation of an ethanol extract from them, which was concentrated to a soft extract, which was analyzed by thin layer chromatography (TLC). Total flavonoids were quantified by the method of chelation with aluminum chloride, total phenols by the Folin-Ciocalteu method and in vitro antioxidant activity by the free radical scavenging method with 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl. The anti-inflammatory activity of the soft extract was evaluated in the animal model Rattus norvegicus, using the method of induction of plantar edema by carrageenan, at doses of: 300 mg/kg, 100 mg/kg and 25 mg/kg, considering as a positive control diclofenac sodium 100 mg/kg. In the identification of the phytochemical groups present in C. amphostenon, alkaloids, terpenic compounds, saponins, phenols, flavonoids and anthocyanins were identified. Presumably kaempferol, β-sitosterol and campesterol were identified by TLC. The concentration of flavonoids and total phenols were directly related to the antioxidant capacity of the extract. In the evaluation of the anti-inflammatory activity, the group treated with the dose of 100 mg/kg of extract stands out, presenting a percentage of inflammation of 49.04%±0.04; a slightly higher value than the group treated with diclofenac sodium, which presented a percentage of inflammation of 48.89%±0.05. Depending on the results can be established that C. amphostenon presents representative anti-inflammatory activity, similar to the diclofenac sodium (synthetic drug); and in addition, the proportional relation of the anti-inflammatory capacity of C. amphostenon and the administered dose of extract is evident. It is recommended to expand the research based on other inflammation models, to elucidate the molecular mechanisms of action of the components present in the extract of C. amphostenon and to establish the effective dose of administration.es_ES
