Utilización de niveles de regano como promotor natural de crecimiento en la alimentación de conejos neozelandés en las etapas de crecimiento y engorde

Abstract

In the Minor Species Program, from the School of Livestock Sciences of the ESPOCH, we assessed the effect of the use of three levels of regano base (1, 2 and 3 %), in the feeding of New Zealand rabbits, during the stage of growth and fattening, to be compared with a control treatment. A randomized (DCA) design was applied, in combinatorial arrangement of two factors, using 40 rabbits, 20 females and 20 males of 60 days of age, with an initial average weight of 1,13 kg. The results showed significant differences (P < 0.05), by effect of the treatments for the final weight variable, consumption of concentrate, food conversion and yield to the channel. No significant differences were observed (P > 0.05), due to treatments for the variables weight gain, forage consumption, total consumption of feed and weight to the carcass. As for the sex factor, the variable that showed significance (P < 0.05), was the final weight, being males (2,25 kg), higher than females (2,20 kg). The best benefit/cost was recorded with the treatment T1, to the use (1 % of regano) with 1.28; which means that for every dollar invested there is a profitability of 0.28 USD, therefore the use of the levels of regano in the feeding of rabbits, it was presented the best productive responses, final weight (2,28 kg); consumption of concentrate (4,02 kg); food conversion (7,10); therefore it is recommended to add in the feeding of rabbits, during the growth stage and fattening 3 % of regano for each kilogram of concentrate, since the productive parameters improve.
