Planificación del transporte público urbano del cantón Cañar

Abstract

The objective of this degree work was to carry out the planning of the urban public transport of the Cañar canton with the purpose of improving the urban transport service through a design of routes, specific stops, fleet sizing and the infrastructure which is part of the routes granted. For the elaboration of the present investigation they are taken as references the Organic Law of Terrestrial Transport, Transit and Road Safety (LOTTTSV, by its acronym in Spanish), the Regulation to the Organic Law of Terrestrial Transport, Transit and Road Safety, the Ecuadorian Technical Norms of the Ecuadorian Standardization Institute (NTE-INEN, by its acronym in Spanish) and the stages of public transport planning; in addition, techniques and instruments were used, such as: user surveys, observation cards and the ascent and descent gauging of passengers; that helped to identify the inconveniences of the urban public transport service of the Cañar canton. At the end of the gathering of information, it has allowed the elaboration of proposals for the improvement of the urban public transport service, such as the fleet sizing required to cover the demand of each route efficiently, the specific stops and their furniture. It is concluded that the planning of the urban public transport of the Cañar canton does not have a technical design of the necessary routes for the correct functioning of the operator that provides the service. It is recommended that the agencies in charge of transport planning consider the proposals defined in this project as a guide that allows them to improve the service in order to boost the mobility of visitors and residents of the Cañar canton.
