Evaluación de impacto ambiental y desarrollo del plan de manejo ambiental para las operaciones del Puerto Comercial de Esmeraldas.

Abstract

The purpose of the present investigation was to evaluate the potential impacts related to the operation of the Commercial Seaport of Esmeraldas. The recognition of the legal framework, the description of the existing environmental conditions, and the components of the seaport functioning system were carried out. The modified matrix of Leopold was handled, examining the observations to the operation process of the seaport as well as the design of the prevention measures, mitigation that was contemplated by the specific actions for the protection of the population and the environment. 264 effective interactions were identified, they were observed in the area of direct influence as a consequence of the development of the activities of the seaport, as a result of the interaction of 12 actions and 22 environmental indicators. Through the evaluation of the impacts, a numerical value of - 673.1 units was obtained, which represents a negative percentage impact of -16.08 %, which means that it will have a negative impact on the marine environment. 69 mitigation and compensation actions are recommended, they will be executed by the entities responsible for the management and control of the Commercial Seaport of Esmeraldas.
