“Evaluación de la infraestructura vial mediante la metodología IRAP en el tramo Riobamba - Ambato”

Abstract

The objective of this research was to evaluate the conditions of the road infrastructure of the state road network E-35 through the iRAP methodology in the Riobamba-Ambato section to reduce traffic accidents, in the first instance the current situation of the road infrastructure was known. State E-35, later it was analyzed with an adaptation to the iRAP methodology for the evaluation of road infrastructure E-35 and finally recommendations were proposed on road infrastructure improvements according to the iRAP methodology on highway E-35 section Riobamba-Ambato. To obtain information, a field study was carried out to extract data through the iRAP methodology by sections of the 55.7 km through videos and photographs, an observation sheet applied at critical points was used as an instrument to know the current situation of the road. The existence of critical points in Riobamba San Andrés sector, Mochapata canton Mocha sector, Santa Lucía Canton Tisaleo, Alobamba canton Tisaleo sector was determined, the results allowed to establish that there is a decline in terms of the current road infrastructure and that the risks are in certain manner of consideration and concern. It is concluded through the observation sheet, the main existing problems in the Riobamba-Ambato section, such as the delimitation of horizontal and vertical signage, track width, shoulder width, lighting and its overall design.
