Estudio para determinar la oferta y demanda del transporte público en el cantón Santiago de Quero

Abstract

The objective of this degree work was to conduct a study to determine the supply and demand of public transportation in the canton of Quero. The research was carried out using a mixed research approach by analyzing several contexts including the current situation of the public transportation service which was carried out using the origin- destination survey instrument and the ascent and descent record carried out in the transportation units. The research was considered descriptive because a diagnosis of the current situation was made. It was considered field research because the information was collected directly in the three parishes of Quero: La Matriz (Quero), Yanayacu, and Rumipamba. As a result of the investigation, the most used mode of transportation is the bus with a percentage of 28% for which thirteen routes are authorized by the National Transit Agency. Due to the COVID 19 pandemic, there were only six routes that circulated through the three parishes of the canton of which only two of them circulated every day of the week to zone 1 which is the cantonal capital. The remaining four routes only ran on an atypical day (Sunday) with three frequencies during the day. It was concluded that the break-even point is found in route 11 where supply and demand were adequate unlike route 12 and 13 that had a high demand to then be applied the methodology contained in resolution 108- DIR-ANT- 2016. The recommendation was made to increase the current supply by 29 units, corresponding to 20 units of routes 12 and 13 which were distributed to the entire network of the canton respectively thus covering the unsatisfied demand that existed in the canton of Quero.
