Auditoría de seguridad vial en la vía Catamayo San Pedro de la Bendita (km 00-km 12), provincia de Loja

Abstract

The purpose of this research project was the application of a Road Safety Audit in the Catamayo-San Pedro de la Bendita section, province of Loja with the objective of expressing recommendations to reduce the level of accidents. Road safety problems were determined by observation along the 12 km of study; With the help of checklists, data corresponding to parameters such as: visibility, pavements, pedestrian infrastructure, lateral zones and containment barriers, lighting, intersections, gutters, watercourses, vertical and horizontal signage, infrastructure for heavy transport, was recorded. which allowed to evaluate the current situation of the road infrastructure in the study section. Through the proposal, recommendations were determined according to the Ecuadorian standard Nevi-12, volume 6 of road maintenance operations such as: the execution of asphalt maintenance on the road surface that allowed replacing the deteriorated areas, areas were determined to place curbs as well establish the appropriate conditions for collation of the same, placement of vertical and horizontal signage, cleaning of vegetation on the road and improve free mobility, and thus a safe and efficient road system was guaranteed to safeguard people's lives. It was determined that the road has shortcomings in the road infrastructure along the section and, in addition, the inexperience of the drivers with respect to speed or disrespect for the signage is disrespectful, for which it is recommended to the Ministry of Transport and Public Works- Loja the application of the solution alternatives detailed in the present investigation.
