Plan de salvaguardia del patrimonio cultural inmaterial de la fiesta del chagra y rodeo criollo, cantón Mocha, provincia de Tungurahua.

Abstract

The objective of this research was to design a Safeguarding Plan for the Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) for the Chagra and Rodeo Criollo Festival in Mocha Canton, Tungurahua province. Four stages were defined: elaboration of the territorial situational diagnosis from Mocha canton, registration of the ICH, analysis of vulnerability in the ICH, and formulation of the ICH Safeguarding Plan. Methodologically, a bibliographic review focused on the analysis of official documents was curried out to learn about the current situation of the site and how it is linked to the safeguarding of the event, as a basis for the development of strategies, followed by the registration of the PCI in the INPC files, an analysis of its vulnerability based on the established parameters, and the formulation of the philosophical, strategic and operational approach of the Safeguarding Plan. In addition, results of the first objective indicated the physical, ecological, social and economic characteristics of the canton. Thirteen cultural events associated with the Chagra and Rodeo Criollo Festival were recorded. Of the registered manifestations, eight have been identified as current manifestations and five as vulnerable. Therefore a SWOT, critical nodes analysis and key success factors were carried out, which led to the formulation of seven strategies, three programs and six projects. To sum up, it is concluded that the budget for the execution of the projects has an estimated investment of $38,600.00. In this sense, it is recommended the socialization of this study and its implementation to ensure the transmission of the PCI of this festivity to strengthen the identity of the local inhabitants in Mocha Canton.
