Estudio de impacto vial generado por el mercado municipal en el sector San Pedro del cantón Guano

Abstract

The objective of this Curricular Integration work was to investigate the road impact generated by the municipal market in the San Pedro sector of the Guano canton, in order to guarantee the good use of the road and pedestrian spaces. In order to evaluate the road conditions, present in the study area, research instruments were applied; among them, observation sheets for the road structure, horizontal and vertical signaling and execution of vehicular gauging, and an interview with the technical personnel of the transportation planning area. The results obtained showed that the horizontal signage does not comply with the technical characteristics established in the regulations with respect to color and dimensions; with respect to vertical signage, the dimensions of the plates do not comply with the INEN 004-1 standard codes, and their location; moreover, the interview verified that a road impact study had not been conducted prior to the construction of the municipal market. Three strategies were proposed to ensure the proper use of the streets and, above all, to guarantee the safety of road users. In conclusion, it was found that the current signage established on the study roads does not comply with the regulations. It is recommended to make a new demarcation in order to provide safety to users who move along the roads near the central market of the Guano canton.
