Abstract

The objective of this investigation was to design a documentary photo book of the traditional crafts of Riobamba to strengthen the cultural identity of the citizens. It began by collectingdata about trades or their history in the city, through printed texts, websites, and interviewswith experts within the area such as the president of the Junta Provincial de la Defensa del Artesano, who provided knowledge about the most important trades characteristic of the city, in the same way with Juan Rodríguez and Patricia Bonilla, members of the INPC, in charge of the guide on the intangible heritage of humanity. With the information collected,the most representative trades were chosen and a search was started for the people who practice it. Before the interviews, the questions that are directed to the artisans were asked,as well as a photographic technical sheet which consisted of the handling of the camera anddetails of the shots. The interviews and photographs taken, the audios began to be transcribed, summarizing the most important parts; At the same time, the best photographswere chosen to later take them to the editing process. Once the interviews had been transcribed, it proceeded with the layout of the book in the Indesign program, for the photographic editing the Photoshop program was used, from the total of the photographs obtained, eleven photos per craftsman were chosen. It should be noted that the trades placedin the photo book, there is not an order of importance. This material is intended to encourageand strengthen the identity of our culture with citizens, in the same way, its purpose is to thank the artisans for their work and dedication throughout their lives and the city.
