Evaluación del sistema de distribución de medicamentos por dosis unitaria en el área de ginecología del Hospital General Docente Riobamba

Abstract

In the present investigation, the Evaluation of the System of Distribution of Medicines by Unit Dose to the Gynecology Area of the General Teaching Hospital Riobamba was carried out in order to investigate if this process is fully applied and what benefits it has provided to the hospital. The research was based on the legal guidelines of the "Guide for the Application of the Unit Dose Drug Distribution System in the Hospitals of the Integral Health Network" of the Ministry of Public Health of Ecuador. The results obtained showed that the procedure is not handled correctly, nor is the time required for the system used, there is no timely renewal of stock, priorities are given to functions that are not within the competence of the Biochemist Pharmacist, in less than the care of hospitalized patients. It is recommended to carry out pharmacotherapeutic follow-ups; to elaborate pharmacological profiles for follow-up; to advise the physician on the best pharmacological options; to facilitate the participation of the Pharmaceutical Biochemist as a fundamental axis for therapeutics. Based on the evaluation carried out, it is urgent that the guidelines of the Ministry of Public Health be correctly applied, which, with the recommendations noted above, would guarantee the quality of patient care and the consequent savings for the hospital.
