Interacción socioambiental entre el ser humano y el jaguar (panthera onca) en la parroquia El Dorado del cantón Francisco de Orellana durante los últimos 5 años

Abstract

The increase in human population and the increase in their needs for consumption and use of resources are affecting natural ecosystems, including vegetation and fauna; mainly the lack of knowledge, fear and economic impact are factors that influence the negative interaction between humans and the jaguar; therefore, the objective was to analyze the socio-environmental interaction between humans and the jaguar (Panthera onca) in El Dorado parish. The methodology had a quantitative qualitative approach, with a non-experimental design and a cross-sectional scope, with a bibliographic and field study, the study population consisted of inhabitants of the parish to whom a survey of 14 items was applied; an interview was also applied to the staff of the Yasuní National Park, COCAZOO, Ministry of Environment, Water and Ecological Transition, with this information a training plan was designed on the interaction of humans and jaguars. The importance of environmental conservation was highlighted; there were 55% sightings of jaguars in the last 5 years, 55% of those surveyed did not consider wild animals important and 63% stated that this species is not important for the environment. It was concluded that the inhabitants of El Dorado have little information on environmental issues, particularly the jaguar, and the people in charge do not monitor the area due to a conflict of economic and personal resources, making it crucial to implement the design of the training plan for the parish.
