Abstract

The objective of this research work was was to evaluate the use of chicken coop as a food source for guinea pigs. The search for bibliographic information was based on the collection of information published in web pages, scientific journals, doctoral theses stored in reliable repositories, scientific articles, performing the search in the following search engines: Google scholar, Redalyc, Springer link, Scielo, Dialnet, Scoopus, E- library. The topics of chicken coop as food for guinea pigs that meet the following parameters were reviewed: evaluation of chicken as a food source for guinea pigs, development of diets based on guinea pigs, technical management and production of guinea pigs. Chicken coop serves as food for guinea pigs because it has a higher content of protein, fiber and energy which allows them to have better intestinal health and higher productive performance. Chicken coop is a by- product in the poultry industry, mainly used as fertilizer. But it can also be used as animal feed due to its chemical composition composed of mineral materials important for the growth and development of guinea pigs. The minerals in chicken help control pH levels in sweating, maintain muscle texture and improve your digestive system. The results in the chemical composition of the chicken are 85,16 % dry matter, 24,24 % protein, 19,44% fiber. In the productive variables average initial weight of 702, 56 g, final weights of 1077, 75 g to 1080.50 g, a total gain of 747,35 g and a yield to the carcass of 79,21 %. It is concluded that the chicken coop is a food of organic origin that provides benefits in the feeding of guinea pigs increasing the productive parameters. It is recommendes that the amount of chicken should be measured in the diet and conduct research to implement in the feeding of other species.
